Wheelchair Lift
Inspections

Metro Atlanta’s #1 Wheelchair Lift Inspection Company

During an annual inspection of a wheelchair lift, we verify whether it meets the safety standards set by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). As part of the inspection, we test all mechanical, electrical, and safety components to ensure proper functionality.  Commercial wheelchair lifts, in public buildings, must undergo an inspection every 12 months. This inspection typically includes:

  • Verification of safety devices: We test and confirm the proper function of all safety features, including brakes, sensors, and emergency stop buttons.
  • Structural integrity checks: We assess the lift’s platform, rails, and structural connections for any signs of damage, wear, or corrosion.
  • Electrical system tests: We review the control system, wiring, backup power (if applicable), and all electrical components for wear and tear.
  • Operational performance: We cycle the lift through its complete range of motion to check for proper function, smooth movement, and unusual noises.
  • Code compliance: We verify the lift meets the standards of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), specifically ASME A18.1 for newly installed lifts.

Documentation and reporting: We submit an electronic report to the Office of the Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner detailing all tests and any violations found.
